Dromard club notes

September 11, 2017

Division 1 League: Our senior team has two important games remaining in this year's league. The first of these is against Colmcille on Saturday next (16th September) at 4pm in Páirc na nGael. We urge all supporters to come out in good numbers for this game - our last home fixture of the 2017 season. The final league fixture is an away game against Mostrim to be played in the coming weeks.

County Final: Best of luck to the Dromard ladies team in the Longford Intermediate Championship Final on Saturday (16th) against Ballymahon/Forgney. The final takes place in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park at 12:45. Good luck to the players and their management team of Elaine Sheridan and Francis Murphy as they attempt to follow up last year's junior success with an intermediate title.

Referee Recruitment: Message from Longford GAA: Refereeing is open to men and women from the age of 18 upwards. It is something that brings great satisfaction and also allows referees to progress up the ranks to whatever level their dedication takes them. At the moment, there are wonderful opportunities for young referees to climb the ranks within Longford and indeed in the Leinster ranks also. Refereeing is enjoyable and helps enhance your skills set. If you decide to explore the idea feel free to contact Referees Administrator Joe O'Brien [email protected] or phone 086 2460840.

Disability Inclusion Training: A course will take place on Saturday 16th September in Edgeworthstown Community Centre. To book your place, go directly to the CARA website http://www.caracentre.ie/training-and-education. The course fee is €45.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Results and Fixtures: By the time you all read this two underage Finals U/16 and U/14 will have been fought for and won or lost. Either way, a good season's end for our younger girls. Reports will follow in next week's paper. And so we come to our senior ladies who take the field this Saturday 16th Sept at 12.45pm in Pearse Park to contest the County Intermediate Final against Ballymahon/Forgney. Once again a full report next week.

County Final: As mentioned above our Senior Panel reach the climax of their season this Saturday. We always rely on your support from the parish to help us over the line and this year is no different. So let's get out the flags, the bunting and the Good Luck boards to give them the best possible send off, and we promise we will give everything on the pitch not to let you all down.

Church Gate Collection: This year's collection for Dromard Ladies Club happens to coincide with County Finals Weekend. Collectors will be outside at the following times and any contribution you feel you can make will be, as always, much appreciated and put to good use for all our age groups. Saturday 16th at 8pm outside Moyne Church and Sunday 17th at 11.45am outside Legga Church.

Clothes Collection: As promised in last week's notes we now have a collection date fixed for our annual Clothes Collection. It will be on Friday 22nd September, so we ask you to bag up all your old clothing, shoes etc and leave at Moyne Post Office, Chairperson's House or at our Clubhouse (downstairs in Ladies Changing Rooms). Since the van arrives early in the morning our advice is to hand your bags in early in the week as some people left it until collection morning last year and were disappointed. We hope this annual service is useful to people in clearing stuff. It certainly benefits our club funds, and we thank you for helping us.

Croke Park: We are aiming to run our usual bus to Croker again this year for Ladies Finals Day on Sun 24th Sept. Can all parents and others who wish to go please advise Imelda (086 087 5602) asap so that we can allocate tickets and know what size bus to book. Unfortunately, there will be no Longford Ladies there this year to cheer on but it still makes for a cracking day out and all the girls enjoy it and come back for more every year. Don't forget to book early or risk being disappointed.

Birthdays: To Emma Bleakley and Roisin Kiernan from our Senior Panel. Enjoy your respective days Girls.
