St. Francis Dromard Minor Club Notes
All-Star Visits Dromard: Dublin Footballer and All-Star Michael Darragh Macauley visited Páirc na nGael on Tuesday last to take a coaching session with our St.Francis U14 and U16 teams. Michael put our lads through a fantastic training session on the pitch for about 1hr 20mins "sharing some of Jim Gavin's secrets", as he put it. After our pitch session, we went upstairs to the clubhouse for a Q&A session. Michael gave our young players a great insight into what it a takes to become a top inter-county player. The training regime, diet and sacrifices he and his Dublin team mates have made to become one of the greatest teams to play Gaelic Football. Our players really enjoyed the occasion and got plenty of autographs and photos to take home. St Francis Minor Club would like to thank Michael Darragh  Macauley for giving his time for what was a great day for our players.
Training Gear: Our U6 & U10 teams received their new Boot Bags and T-shirts at training on Saturday morning last. The minor club would like to take this opportunity to thank Stephen Reilly of Kilwater LTD who kindly sponsored boot bags for the entire Minor club. Brendan McEntee of The Glenview Lounge and Dr Sean Moran, Legga for sponsoring the T-shirts for both teams.
Training: Our u6, u8 and u10 training every Saturday morning on the 3G pitch between 9.30 to 10.30 for all our boys and girls. All our players will be trained in the basic skills of Gaelic football in a safe, friendly and fun environment. We are always looking to recruit new players to play for St Francis, if you have a child (boys and girls) that wants to play Gaelic football during the summer holiday's bring them down to join our great club. We pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive club, no child will be turned away and all children either boys or girls will get a chance to play. All new players who register with St.Francis Minor club will receive a free boot bag.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes
Results and Fixtures: Due to Rathcline being unable to field last Wednesday there was no Senior Championship match for our girls this week. However they don't need to wait long as on Friday 21st at 8pm they entertain Ballymahon/Forgney. If you missed the chance to see this panel in action in the first round when they won away in Ballymore, get down to the grounds to support them as they strive to reach the Senior Intermediate Final in September.

Our U/12 Panel were in action twice last week, but unfortunately lost out on both occasions. First up Colmcille came calling, and left with the points on a scoreline of 2-4 to 5-7 and then on Friday we travelled to Longford to play the rearranged match with Slashers, and again suffered a reverse 4-5 to 1-0. Nobody can doubt the commitment and spirit that this panel play with, and as the majority of them are still under 12 next season and some the season after, things will only get better. However things don't look like getting easier this week as they round off their season with a match played on Monday at home to Clonguish, followed by an away trip to Carrickedmond. Results and reports next week.

In between, on the Tuesday our u/16's will have played their first game in the summer league. After the disappointment of having to concede a semi-final to Ballymore in the Championship due to lack of numbers, lets hope they show what they are capable of, with exams behind them and a fully focused panel supplemented by our u14s. Speaking of which their own u/14 summer league starts on Thurs 27 with a home match v Mullinalaghta at 6.45. This is preceded on Tues 25th when the u/16's travel to Rathcline for their second game throw in also at 6.45pm.

Under 10 Blitz: This Sat 22nd in Killoe and the following Sat 29th in Grattans. We will bring all our girls who are under 10 and younger to both blitzes and we encourage our newer parents to bring them along. Blitzes are always great fun and purely that as no scores are kept. The accent is on enjoying the games, meeting other players from other clubs and enjoying the hospitality afterwards. Times and travel details will be sent to all parents by text during the week before.

Apology: Although the ending of underage training was notified in the Leader Notes and the Dromard Newsletter, so as to allow our trainers time off and allow us to attend all the U/10 Blitzes, we omitted to send out texts to parents. So to all those that don't get sight of the Longford Leader or the Newsletter, we apologise that you turned out last Saturday.

Birthdays: To Laura and Michelle McManus one of the 4 sets of twins in our Ladies Club whose big day is on Sunday 23rd,They both play on our Senior Panel. And Andrea Farrell from our Minor Panel who will be 17 on Tuesday 25th. Enjoy the celebrations.
