Moran, Sean
August 17, 2012
The death occurred of another of our senior citizens Sean Moran, Carrigeen and formerly Killeen. Sean passed away peacefully at the general hospital Mullingar after a long illness on Thursday last.
Affectionately known as Ogie, he was one of nature's true gentlemen, always pleasant, good humoured, extremely witty and contented within himself. Sean was renowned for his talent as an excellent footballer, mostly playing in the half back line on the old Legan sunburst team of the 40s and 50s. He later played with Carrickedmond and Ardagh teams, before emigrating like many of his age group, where he worked for many years, mostly in construction.
On returning to Ireland he continued to work in the building industry and also farming. In whatever line of work Sean embarked on he was renowed for being an excellent workman. He will be missed by all that knew him, particularly by his close friends and especially by his sisters Mary and Elizabeth, his nephews and nieces, relativities and friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. His remains were removed to St Mary's Church Legan on Friday following prayers in St Joseph's hospital chapel. His funeral took place on Saturday and he was laid to rest in Foxhall cemetery. May he rest in peace.
