Noonan, Pat

May 20, 2011
Everyone in the area was shocked and saddened when they heard of the sudden death on May 4th last of Pat Noonan at his home in Cloncallow Ballymahon aged 65 predeceased by his brothers Benny and Peter. Pat was a quiet unassuming gentleman who was always held with great respect in the local community, he was a man with great pair of hands and a man who worked hard from a young age. He worked with the Board of works for 7 years and then with Bord na Mona for 42 years. Pat married to Mary for 42 years and since taking early retirement from the board they were inseparable, travelling the country and enjoying life, never one without the other. He was a great family man, himself and Mary had six children, Dermot living in Iowa, Deirdre, Vincent, Raymond, Shirley and Ivan and always provided well for them all. A man of deep religious faith Pat loved nature and animals as was evident from his involvement with the bee club with whom he was regularly seen walking in newcastle woods. Pat loved all things traditional and the simple things in life. He was involved with the vintage club who formed a guard of honour at the church together with his friends in Forgney GAA Club where he gave the use of his field for a long number of years and also his colleagues from Bord na Mona. As could be seen from the enormous turnout on both nights, Pat was widely admired and respected by his neighbours and wide circle of friends, he was always ready and willing to lend a hand when needed. Pat was removed from his home on Friday night to the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Forgney and he was laid to rest after the funeral Mass on Saturday in the adjoining cemetery. We extend our sincere sympathy at this sad time to Pat's wife Mary, to his mother Anna, his sons Dermot, Vincent, Raymond and Ivan, daughters Deirdre (Moorhead) and Shirley (Keyes), brothers John, Eugene and Al, sisters Theresa, Eithne and Loretta, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews relatives, neighbours and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
