Davis looking to build on O'Byrne Cup success

Longford manager Padraig Davis is hoping to build on their O’Byrne Cup success as they embark on the FL3 campaign.

The Midlanders lifted some early season silverware when they defeated Offaly to cliam the O’Byrne Cup for the first time in over 20 years.

They now turn their attention to the opening league clash against Louth this weekend and Davis has stressed that they are fully focused on that game.

“Hopefully, it can give us the shot in the arm that we need,” Davis told the Longford Leader. “If you had one league match coming it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but you have three very competitive league matches coming now.

“We are almost resting to prepare now as opposed to training to prepare. These lads need to be resting now.”

The Allianz Football and Hurling Leagues are back this weekend and so is the Hogan Stand Match Tracker. Join us on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon for live score and updates from the opening rounds.
