Dromard club notes

January 20, 2020

Sympathy: Dromard GAA extends its sympathy to Padraic O’Brien and O’Brien family on the death of Maura O’Brien, Longford Town. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.

O’Byrne Cup Final: Congratulations to the Longford senior footballers on winning the O’Byrne Cup final on Saturday in Tullamore. Well done to Joseph Hagan who played very effectively throughout the game. Joseph has now followed in the footsteps of his father Sean who won an O’Byrne Cup medal with Longford in 2000. Congratulations to Padraic Davis, Paul Barden, Donal Ledwith and the rest of the Longford management and backroom team, especially Dromard’s Danny O’Toole. Good luck to the players and management against Louth in Round 1 of the national league on Sunday (26 January) in Pearse Park. Throw in at 2pm.

Philly McGuinness U20 League: Congratulations to the Longford U20 footballers on their hard-earned draw with Fermanagh in the U20 League on Saturday. Well done in particular to Dromard’s Aaron Farrell who scored a vital goal in the second half and to the other Dromard representatives on the Longford U20 team, Joseph Hagan (U20 team captain but on senior duty on Saturday), Ollie Duffy and Conor McGauran. The draw against Fermanagh qualified Longford for the final of the competition.

Club Longford: Longford GAA has launched a new supporters club under the banner of Club Longford. The aim of Club Longford is to provide new financial resources to support the training and preparation of our county teams. You can become a member of Club Longford for just €40 by signing up online at clublongford.ie. Businesses can sign up for Corporate Membership which entitles you to a range of benefits including a pitchside sign at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. Full details are available on the website.

Dromard Healthy Clubs: Circuit training for all levels is underway for 2020. Classes take place on Saturday mornings at 8.30 and are a great way to start getting fit again.
