Sympathy: Dromard GAA would like to express its deepest sympathies to the Hannify family, Templeogue, Dublin and Drumlish, and the Donohoe family Fostra, on the sad passing of Patricia Hannify, Templeogue, (nee Donohoe, Fostra.). The club would also like to extend is sympathies to the Keating family, Florida, and the Kenny family and the McCabe family, Drumhaldry, on the passing of Bridget (Bridie) Keating (nee Kenny) residing in Florida, and formerly of Moatfarrell, Ballinalee, and sister Anna McCabe (RIP) Drumhaldry.

Division 1 League: Dromard 2-10 Mullinalaghta St Columbas 0-20. Our senior footballers were defeated by Mullinalaghta in the league which resumed last weekend. The sides were evenly matched in the first half with the scores level at the break, Dromard 1-5 to Mullinalaghta’s 8 points. The Dromard goal was a fine effort scored by Cian Mimnagh with Francis McGee (4 points) and Diarmuid Masterson (1) accounting for the other Dromard points in the opening half. Mullinalaghta increased the pressure in the opening ten minutes of the second half and added scores to establish a 5 point lead. Dromard worked hard and stayed in touch with points from Cian Mimnagh and Francis McGee (2). A well-taken goal from Joseph Hagan and good points from Francis McGee and Bernard Sheridan reduced the margin but Mullinalaghta held on to claim the two points. Division 1: Our senior team is back in action on Sunday (14 July) when they take on Abbeylara in at Páirc na nGael. Throw in is at 2pm. Please come out and support the team in this important game.

Big Win In Leinster: Congratulation to the Longford Minors/U17s and their management team who won the Seamus Heaney Cup on Wednesday evening last by defeating Wexford 3-16 to 2-05. Special congratulations to our team members Aaron Farrell and Fionn Hourican. It was also brilliant to see our own club man, Thomas Jones, who is based in Portlaoise and is hugely involved in all GAA activities at every level for his club, Laois, and Leinster for many many years. Tom presented the Seamus Heaney Cup to the captain of his native County, Longford. Tom has remained a staunch Dromard supporter over the years and we thank him for his loyal support!

Water Safety Ireland Swim and Lifesaving lessons: The popular annual swimming lessons at Annagh Lake, Moyne, Co. Longford will take place for two weeks commencing Monday July 22nd at 9.30am. Everyone is welcome for what is always a brilliant two weeks of fun at the excellent and recently improved facilities at Annagh.
