The return of Longford captain Donal McElligott from suspension for Sunday’s Leinster SFC replay against Kildare is a huge boost for the Midlanders.

McElligott missed out on last weekend’s drawn game through suspension, but is available for selection this weekend.

Without their captain, Longford produced an excellent performance to grind out a draw against a highly fancied Lilywhites’ side.

And Longford manager Padraic Davis admitted that being able to call on the Mullinalaghta man was a bonus for them.

“He is a huge addition to us. He was a huge addition on Sunday last even though he couldn’t take the field of play,” Davis told the Longford Leader.

“He is a marvellous captain. To have him on the field of play next Sunday is a big boost. Donie can’t do it all, we have to do it together again.”
