Longford manager Padraig Davis has been happy with the Midlanders start to the NFL 3 campaign.

Three points from a possible four keep them very much in the promotion hunt as they prepare to face unbeaten Carlow at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday.

Longford drew with Offaly last weekend and Davis revealed to the Longford Leader that the treatment room is starting to fill up a bit much for his liking.

“To have three out of four points after two games, I think we would have settled for that. I think most teams in the National League would’ve settled for that. Points are so hard picked up. We go to Carlow next Sunday. I believe we can get a result there also,” said Davis.

Speaking on the injuries, Davis added: “It has been well documented at this stage. It’s very unfortunate. This should be a story about who we do have as opposed to who we don’t have.

“Yes, we are the most depleted teams in terms of injury and absenteeism for various reasons. But these lads are really getting on with the job. I think they deserve huge credit for it.”
