Mullinalaghta St Columba’s captain Shane Mulligan believes that reaching a first ever Leinster club SFC final has been the culmination of three years hard work.

Last Sunday, Mullinalaghta became the first ever Longford side to reach a Leinster club SFC final following their demolition of Carlow’s Eire Og in the semi-final.

This comes on the back of the club winning an historic three in a row of county SFC titles and Mulligan told the Longford Leader that the hard work began three years ago.

“The work that we have put in over the last three years has really stood to us. There has been a lot of publicity and a lot of media talking about the little parish and all that,” said Mulligan.

“We look at it as we have a very talented dressingroom. We have been working really hard over the last three years and getting results. I think that is why we find ourselves looking ahead to a Leinster final.”
