Graham eager to leave on high

Cavan manager Mickey Graham admits that it will be hard to walk away from Longford side Mullinalaghta after a few glorious years with the club.

Graham is currently preparing the defending champions for this year’s county final against neighbours Abbeylara, the side that they have beaten in the last two finals.

Having taken over the side in 2016, Graham has guided the club to massive success since then, but his reign will come to an end this weekend as he then turns his attention to the Cavan senior footballers.

Speaking to the Longford Leader ahead of Sunday’s decider, Graham admitted that it will be very difficult to walk away from the team after so many good memories.

“If Mullinalaghta pull it off it would be an unbelievable achievement. When I first arrived their dream was trying to win a county championship. That was it. It was just the one to make the breakthrough.”

“When they won the first title they were happy to do that. I did say that if they were not to win another championship they were quite content but then they won a second one and the Division 1 league and Leader Cup again.

He added: “I know this journey is coming to an end. The hardest part for me will be leaving the boys. It’s just going to be so difficult.”
