Without kicking a ball in the relegation play-offs, Ballymahon have opted to take the step down to the Longford intermediate grade for the 2019 campaign.

The 2002 county champions made the decision to withdraw from the relegation play-offs and go straight down to the second tier.

This means that both Longford Slashers and Carrickedmond retain their senior status for another year.

Meanwhile, eight teams are still in the hunt for the title with defending champions Mullinalaghta installed as favourites, but they will face tough competition from the likes of Killoe.

The quarterfinal pairings are Killoe v. Abbeylara, Colmcille v. Granard, Mullinalaghta v. Mostrim and Clonguish v. Dromard.
