Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Results: A busier week this week with lots of football played. Our u10 panel, although missing a number of players, travelled to Grattans on Saturday to take part in their blitz. The girls played four games against: Ballymore, Grattens, Ballymahon and Rathcline. Team: Grace Tierney, Lauren Maguire, Erin Kearney, Róisín Bohan, Caoimhe Shannon, Eleanor Reilly, Ruth Cosgrove, Bebhinn Courtney, Bronagh Holloway, Aoibhinn Courtney and Farah Shannon. This is a very young u10 panel and they are progressing well and showing improvement week on week, keep up the good work girls. Thanks to Niamh Cooke and parents who travelled to the blitz. Well done and thank you to Grattans who put on a very enjoyable and well-ran blitz.

The U12 panel hosted Grattans on Monday evening in their first game of the summer league. Again with a number of players unavailable this young u12 team put in a great performance with some great scores and a couple of super saves from Emily O'Reilly. We wish a speedy recovery to Rhiannah Clarke, Caoimhe Kearney and Naoise Hourican who picked up injuries in the game.

The u14 team travelled to Carrickedmond on Thursday evening in the A Championship where they came up against a strong opposition who would claim a home win. Team: Louise Tierney, Rhiannagh Lennon, Kate O'Connor, Aisling Farrell, Brianna Murphy, Tamara Cosgrove, Avril Cosgrove, Kate McEntire, Leah Duffy, Orlaith Magauren, Melanie Reilly, Siobhan Murphy and Naoise Hourican. Scorers: Orlaith, Leah and Siobhan.

Senior: Our senior team had a useful challenge against Bornacoola/Carrick on Sunday last. With a number of players unavailable we got off to a shaky start but we finally got our act together in the second half and came out winners. A special shout out to Cathy Conefrey who made her senior debut on Sunday lining out beside her aunt Helen in the half-forward line.

Fixtures: U12: Monday 18th away to Rathcline. Monday 25th at home to Mullinalaghta.

U14: awaiting results of games to confirm semi-finals. U16: summer league fixture to be confirmed.

County Matters: Longford Ladies lost out in their Leinster Intermediate Semi-final clash against a strong Wicklow team who remain unbeaten this year. Hard luck to the girls and management.

Birthdays: Emily McEntire turns 7 this week and one of our senior players and representative on the county team Cait Murphy will turn 19. Happy Birthday girls.
