Jim Gavin eased Jack McCaffrey and Cian O'Sullivan back into action during today's commanding Leinster SFC semi-final win over Longford.

It was McCaffrey's first time to don the sky blue jersey since the cruciate ligament injury he sustained in last year's All-Ireland SFC final while O'Sullivan has been sidelined with a shoulder injury.

"Jack hasn't played a representative fixture yet, but he has been playing in the background with us for a number of weeks, Cian has as well," Gavin remarked to gaa.ie

"It is great to see them back on the pitch, they played their part in the second half, absolutely."

Captain Stephen Cluxton was forced off the field with a back injury after being on the receiving end of a heavy hit from Longford's James McGivney.

McGivney was subsequently shown a red card by referee Maurice Deegan and Gavin revealed: "We will review that now in the next 24 to 48 hours just to assess the situation."
