Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Results and Fixtures: The Senior Panel had a bye, and so a weekend off last Sunday, but returned to action this week with a League match away to Colmcille, which they won on a scoreline of 2-05 to 4-12. This now gives them a Home League Semi-Final this coming weekend in Dromard although as yet we are unsure of our opponents. Please come out and support as they are putting in serious effort, knowing that playing Senior Championship later in the year is going to be a tough ask. Our U/12s seem unable to get their season up and running. Last week's match versus Killoe had to be rearranged due to clashing with a Dromard Schools match (which they won so the talent is there), and then the change of night never suited for various reasons and we had to concede.Lets hope for better luck away to St. Helens. No such problems for the U16s as they saw off the threat of Mullinalaghta eventually after a fairly even first half, and they will have hoped to have maintained their 100% record away to Colmcille. Reports next week.

Skills and Drills: This innovative training programme, organised and run by the girls from our Senior Panel got underway on Saturday last in the Astroturf at Dromard. Aimed at bringing all our underage players together to enable everyone from 7 to 16 to bond together with each other and our Senior Panel, and to provide a morning of fun and games as well as improving their skills, it is proving a great success. It was great to see over a dozen or so new faces as well as the usual suspects. It runs from 10 30am to 11 30am on Saturdays, and is open to all girls aged 7+. So if you have never tried Gaelic Football before, or if you played when you were younger and fancy returning after a break now you are older, just turn up Saturday and give it a go. You are always assured of a Dromard Ladies welcome.

Birthday Greetings: To Grace Tierney who will be 10 years old on Saturday, a great excuse for us all to sing Happy Birthday to you at Skills and Drills Gracie. To Avril Cosgrove who combines togging out with the U/14s and U/16s and running with great success for Longford Athletic Club, who will be 14 years old on Monday. Happy Birthday to you both from all your teammates in Dromard.
