Emmet Og club notes

February 19, 2018

Congratulations to senior player Larry Moran who was part of the UCD team that captured the Sigerson Cup at the weekend. Larry becomes the third Killoe man to capture a Sigerson medal following in the footsteps of Davy Sheerin and Michael Quinn. Certainly a proud moment for any player.

Commiserations to our Ballad group and quiz team who lost out narrowly in the junior scòr finals in Sligo at the weekend. Well done to both groups and managers on reaching this stage of the competition.

Senior scòr takes place this coming Friday in Ardagh and we are well represented in the various competitions.

Preparations are well underway for our annual 5 and 10K road races which will take place on Sunday the 11th of March at 12pm. Registration will be on the morning from 10am and costs €15 per runner, €10 for walkers and €5 for juveniles.

Longford county board are currently running a drive to recruit more referees.. Anyone interested in becoming a referee please contact any committee member.

Our lotto draw for a jackpot of €11,300 took place on Sunday night in The Olde Forge  and the numbers drawn were 9, 22, 29 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were  Helen Keogh, London, James Kennedy, Kilmoyle, Mary McKenna, Rhyne, Erin and Faye Conefrey, St Mels Road and Katie O Hara. This weeks sellers prize went to Margaret McCormack. Well done to all our winners.  Next weeks draw for a jackpot of €11,400 will take place in Begleys bar on Sunday night.

Congratulations to Mr Joe Lynch and his new wife Jenny Doyle who got married at the weekend. We wish you many happy years together and look forward to Joe handing on his goal keeping gloves to the next generation of Lynches.

Finally this week we offer our deepest condolences to the Brown and Kiernan/Sorohan families on their very sad bereavements last week. Bridie Brown was a very loyal and passionate KIlloe supporter who always had her flag flying and her lotto ticket in the draw. She will be sadly missed in all walks of life in the community. May both rest in peace.
