At Croke Park, Kildare and Monaghan kick off proceedings in what is a very interesting clash.

Kilkenny are expected to recall the big guns this afternoon i.e Richie Hogan, Colin Fennelly and Walter Walsh if fit and this could give them an edge over their opponents.

This could benefit them as Limerick have hadn't a seriously competitive game since their defeat to Clare in the Munster SHC round robin phase.

The Shannonsiders were also in action last weekend, but they had a facile win over Carlow, while Kilkenny are heading for their third game in three weeks.

In hurling, Kilkenny have a quick turnaround from their Leinster SHC final defeat as they face Limerick in Semple Stadium.

On to today and we are more optimistic that these three games can deliver.

We think it's fair to say that the All-Ireland U20 football championship semi-finals really saved the day as we had two excellent games of football.

Clare, Tyrone and Dublin were all convincing winners as the Super 8's and hurling quarterfinal begun.

Let's be honest, yesterday's fare was poor to say the least and that goes for both codes.
