The Late Edmund Ryan
The death occurred at the Mid Western Regional Hospital, Limerick of Edmond (Eddie) Ryan, Cork Road, Newport.
The deceased who was in his mid seventies was predeceased by his wife Phyllis and is survived by sons, Richard and Thomas, daughters, Marie and Fiona and sisters Mary (Nicholas) and Neli (Ui Neachtain), relatives and friends.
The late Eddie Ryan who was proprietor of a popular licensed premises at Cork Road was a keen enthusiast of the GAA throughout his life. During his earlier years he was a playing member of various local hurling teams, but his biggest contribution to the local club was probably during his period as Chairman of Newport GAA when the club embarked on the development of the playing field at Lacken Park with the decision to build a stand, work which was very successfully completed and heralded the beginning of a major development programme which has been continued to establish Lacken Park as one of the finest playing grounds in North Tipperary.
There was an extremely large attendance at the removal of his remains from Meehan's Funeral Home Newport to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Newport and burial which took place at Rockvale Cemetery, Newport following Requiem Mass.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his family, sisters, relatives and friends in their bereavement. (Newport)
