The late John Ryan The death occurred on April 15, 2007 at Regional Hospital Limerick of John Ryan, Monour, Kilross, Co Tipperary (peacefully) after a short illness. The late John was a highly respected and popular member of the farming community and his death is deeply regretted. He was educated at Kilross National School and later at Lowtown National School now Galbally. When he finished his primary education he went to Pallaskenry Agricultural College he participated in Gaelic Games of football and hurling. Having graduated from the college he returned to the home farm of his father, a good farmer who could plough, sow and reap. John revealed the modernised and up to date farming and the old and new was blended to improve the way of life. John was father of two sons and six daughters, three of whom are teachers, two in nursing and one in the Civil Service. Matt is a veterinary surgeon while Sean is a hard working and excellent farmer. The late John was a teetotaller all his life and his social life was mainly from participating in Gaelic Games of football and hurling. He played and won minor football medals and played centre back in the Galbally minor football team that beat Abbeyfeale in the semi final at Croom and later with Galbally at the county minor championship final when they defeated St Patricks City champions. The final was played in Kilteely and the cup was brought home on the handlebars of a bicycle. John was selected for the Limerick senior team who played against Clare and John played centre back and he prevented the Clare centre forward from scoring. John was a gentleman on and off the field of play. When he left Galbally he played with Aherlow who won a West Tipperary Championship. John was a kind neighbour and friend of the less well off members of the community. The remains of the deceased were removed from Fraser's Funeral Home where the prayers were recited by Very Rev. Denis Canon Talbot PP Galbally/Aherlow to the Church of Christ the King where they were received by Canon Talbot. The coffin was draped with the club colours of Galbally and Aherlow. Following concelebrated requiem Mass the chief celebrant of which was Canon Talbot assisted by Fr Derry Quirke CC Galbally/Aherlow, Fr Peter O'Connor PP, Artane, Dublin, Fr Martin Hughes OFM, Community College, Tallaght, Dublin and Fr Willie Henessy CC Knocklong/Glenbrohane and the interment took place in St Michael's cemetery, Tipperary Town. The attendance at the funeral home reception, at the church concelebrated requiem Mass and burial was massive which paid tribute to the popularity of the deceased and his family. He is survived by his sons Matt and Sean, daughters Mary (Lynch), Anne (Cooney), Sheila (Hogan) , Eileen (Hogan), Philomena (Searisbrick), Theresa (Tobin) sister Peggy (Carroll) sons in law, sister in law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbours, other relatives and friends.
