The late Pat Dillon, Pallasgreen
The community of Pallasgreen was deeply saddened at the news of Pat Dillon's untimely death on Saturday October 22.
Pat was first and foremost a family man and was proud of his wife and children and their many achievements. He was best known in Pallasgreen as a story-tellar and a man of great humour. Everyone's day was brightened by an encounter with Pat.
He was also a great community man. His involvement with community associations will attest to that. He played with the local GAA team in his youth, and the club provided a guard of honour at the removal and funeral. He played a large part in presentations by the local by the local concert group, was a long-time member of the Board of Management of Nicker National School and was a life-long member of the local branch of Fine Gael. His late father David Dillon was a member of Limerick County Council in the 1970s and Pat himself served as chairman and organiser of the local branch for many years. Local FG members also participated in the guard of honour at the funeral. He was also a member of the local IFA branch and took active part in his cousin John Dillon's successful campaign for the Presidency of that organisation.
After removal from Ryan's funeral Home, Pat's funeral mass was concelebrated at St John the Baptist Church in Nicker and he was laid to rest in St Columba's Cemetery, Pallasgreen on Monday October 24.
He is survived by his wife Mary, his sons David and Kevin, his daughter Mairead and son-in-law David, his mother Mary, his brothers Ollie, John and Garry, his sisters Ann, Marie and Noeleen, nephews, nieces, relatives and many, many friends.
