The Late Matt O'Sullivan
The death occurred on April 3 at Ard na Ri Nursing Home, Bruff of Matt O'Sullivan, Ballinafina, Ardpartrick. He was aged 80 years and in poor health in the recent past.
He was a member of a very well known farming family in the locality, had a great interest in greyhounds and bred and raced the animals most of his life.
His other strong interest was in Gaelic Games. His contribution to the development of the sport in Ardpatrick was exceptional when he was a more active man. He was a life president of Blackrock GAA Club.
Very big crowds attended his removal from McCarthy' Funeral Home, Kilkinane to Ardpatrick Church, and his burial after requiem Mass to the Hill Cemetery.
The chief celebrant was Rev Fr David Browne PP, Ardpatrick, assisted by Rev Fr Tom Coughlan PP, Effin and Rev Fr Richard Davern CC, Caherdavin, Limerick.
The coffin was draped by the old blue and gold of Ardpatrick and the green and white of Blackrock. Past and present players formed a guard of honour in the church yard at the arrival of his remains, and again when leaving the church for burial.
He is survived by his sister Marie, sister-in-law Hannah, nephews and nieces.
