Anthony Cunningham has emerged as a contender to replace TJ Ryan as Limerick senior hurling manager.

According to The Irish Sun, the former Galway boss is believed to have support amongst some of the county's top brass.

A player heave forced Cunningham to quit his native county last year and he was involved in Mick Lillis' Laois football backroom team in 2016.

The Treaty County is in the process of putting together a selection committee to appoint a successor to Ryan.

Anthony Daly, John Kiely and Ciarán Carey are other names in the mix.
