Martin, John

The death took place last weekend of John Martin Oakview Drive, Ballincurra formerly of Carrigeen Croom. The late John Martin is survived by his wife Bridie, sons Gerard, Eugene and daughter Corina, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren. The late John Martin donned the GAA colours of Croom and Limerick in the 40s.

During his hurling career he played with Treaty Sarsfield, Banogue. The coffin was draped in the blue and white of his beloved club Croom and the Tricolour representing the Defence Force. The late John Martin remains was removed from Daffy's Funeral Home to St Mary's Church Croom.

Following requiem mass on Monday last July 11 his burial took place to Reilig Mhuire, Croom. John was a great sportsman and had a great report with the members, players and supporters of the GAA and was regarded as one of the best of his period.

Recently one of his sporting comrades John Cronin formerly of Thomond Gate, Limerick but living in California USA made contact with his sporting colleague to recall of his sporting days on the GAA field playing for Treaty Sarsfield.
