Passing Of Eddie Brennan
It is with sadness that the passing of Eddie Brennan (89) formerly of Boskill was learned. His funeral took place in Poole, Dorset last Thursday where he resided for a long number of years. He always kept in touch with the old country and was well regarded here, being a very jolly person. In his younger days he was an accomplished hurler, playing with the local Caherline hurling team. He joined the Irish Army and was stationed at Kilworth Camp in north Cork and his athletic prowess saw him line out for the All Army hurling side. His commanding officer used to allow him time off from his army duties to come home and play for the local club. He cycled all the way home and back for his game and in one particular match against South Liberties he scored six goals. His hurling skills had to be left behind as he immigrated to England at that time. He entered the Royal air force and served in Singapore during the Second World War. Following the war, he married wife Peggy and settled down in England having a family of two daughters. After retiring from the RAF he took up employment with Guinesses in London. He moved to Poole following his retirement from Guinesses. Just last month his father John was featured in this column about his WW1 service and the item was sent on the week of his passing by his brother Willie to him. He never got to see the feature as he was called by the lord. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Peggy.
Sincere sympathy is offered to his daughters and families and to Willie Brennan Patsy and family here in Boskill, his brothers and sister and their families, relatives and friends.
