McCarthy, Paddy

July 05, 2008
Paddy McCarthy We regret the passing of Paddy McCarthy of River Lawn House, Duckateen, Newcastle West. A native of Glenroe, he lived at Boughill Bo, Ardagh for many years before moving to Newcastle West. He was a very well liked member of the community who was hard working for others and for himself on the family farm. He played with Carrigkerry footballers in 1963 up to their defeat in the West Junior semi final against Castlemahon. He won West and County honours with Newcastle West and he excelled in the tug o war arena. Paddy was a loyal and dedicated Wrenboy with Glensharrold Wrenboys and many other groups over the years and liked the traditional music. He grew a fine garden, winning prizes at the local show for his produce. His remains were removed from his residence to Newcastle West Church and burial took place in Calvary Cemetery on Sunday, June 22. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him Sympathy to his wife Mary, sons Patrick and DJ, daughters Esther, Marie, Margaret and Helen, brothers Donie, David and John, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace. Limerick Leader 5/7/08
