Quirke, Jim

Predeceased by his wife Breda, the late Jim was a well known and respected member of the community. A former rate collector with Limerick County Council for a long number of years. In his younger days he played with the local GAA Club and Knockane, his main position was at full back. He was a member of the Cappamore Junior hurling team that was defeated in the 1949 County Final by Dromcollogher players from Pallas in the side included Denis O'Malley Jimmy O;Connell, Joe Ryan (W) William O'Dwyer and Johnsie Corbett. Both Pallasgreen and Knockane GAA Clubs formed a guard of honour at his removal at Nicker Church. Jim was also a political activist and was a member of the local Fine Gael Cumann. His funeral was from his daughters residence, Annette Ryan Coolacussane, Dundrum, Co.Tipperary to Nicker Church. Following requiem Mass internment took place in Toem Cemetery, Cappawhite.
