Ben Duffy RIP.

The Mayo GAA community has expressed its sympathies to the family of five-year-old Ben Duffy who tragically lost his life in a drowning accident earlier this week.

Ben was playing with his three brothers and sister on the Lough Mask shoreline, near his home in Tourmakeady, on Monday when the tragic incident happened. His body was recovered from the lake yesterday after a search operation.

"Bord na nÓg Acla would like to offer its sincere condolences to Ben’s parents Tracey and Alan, as well as his siblings and extended family, following Ben’s heartbreakingly, sad and premature passing from this life after a drowning accident in Tourmakeady yesterday," a statement on the Bord na nÓg Acla Facebook page reads.

"Our sympathy as well to the Tourmakeady community, also hugely saddened by Ben’s passing. Ben’s dad Alan is no stranger to the Achill parish, with his mother hailing from Tonragee. He also has an aunt living in The Valley.

"While little Ben’s troubles are over, we ask God to grant courage and strength to those who are left behind grieving his loss.

"Ar leaba i measc na n-aingeal eile taobh le Dia go raibh Ben. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam."

A GoFundMe Page has been set up to support the Duffy family during this tragic time.

Westport GAA and Mayo LGFA have also offered their condolences to the Duffy family:
