U21 Football:

City U21 Football Championship

St Patricks 2 10 Claughaun 3 05

Our  U21 footballers reached the clubs seventh  City U21 A football final in eight years with  a fully deserved two point win over our near neighbours Claughaun under lights in the club field on Monday night last.

The sides were level at the break, St Patrick's 7  points to Claughauns 2 1.

Midway through the half with the sides  level, 4pts to 1 1,Claughaun were awarded a dubious penalty  which they converted despite the best efforts of Cian O Brien in goal. This spurred our lads on for the remainder  of the half, kicking the last 3 points from impressive midfielder Shay Mccarthy.

Our opening 4 pts came from Jack Doyle, Shay McCarthy, and a brace of points from Calvin Moran.

Saints started the second half in blistering  fashion and had 2 4 on the board to move ten pts clear.

Our scores coming from a cracking Calvin Moran 1 1, Adam healy with an opportunistic goal, Shay Mccarthy adding  two more points  and a lovely pointed free  from Jack Doyle. Complacency set in at this stage and Claughaun upped the ante and tacked on 1 4 without reply in the last 15mins to  narrow the gap but St Patrick's held out to gain another fine victory.

We have now qualifed for the City A Final against Kildimo/ Pallaskenry.

City U21 A Final

Our U21 team were beaten 2 07 to 8 points by Kildimo/Pallaskenry in the City A final on Tuesday night. In a tight game Kildimo/Pallaskenry  took their goal chances,  St Patrick's  had  a couple of very good goal chances in each half but  could not find the net and this proved the  difference  in the end. Well done to all on a fine effort and a big positive to see great numbers in the panel of players on the night.
