SENIOR HURLERS

Congratulations to our Semior hurlers who ended their season with a County title.

On Wednesday night in what was only a night for ducks, we travelled to Doon for a County League decider against Ballybrown under lights.

We were boosted by the availability of our Limerick contingent who were due to depart on Thursday for New York so huge credit to them for making themselves available.

We began well and Peter Casey had our first score inside a minute.

Ballybrown responded with two points of their own before Will Henn showed his prowess from placed balls to stretch out our lead and by the 20th minute we led by 4 points.

Once again Ballybrown responded and hit the last 3 points of the half to leave it 8 points to 7 in our favour at half time.

After the break it was Adrian Breen who came to life and within 15 minutes he had registered 4 points.

Pat Gleeson a half time replacement for Will O Donoghue added to our tally with 3 second half points.

Ballybrown raised the first green flag with 5 minutes left to seize on a dropped sliothar.

However it was man of the match Will Henn who got the final 3 scores one of which was our first goal with time up.

Huge credit to both sides for serving up a very entertaining contest in extremely trying conditions.

Stand in captain Cathall King received the County League trophy on behalf of the team.

A big thanks also to Paul Condon and Emmet Beston for taking the team.

Team: Podge Kennedy, Kieran Kennedy, Cathall King, Niall Buckley, Mike Foley, Mike Casey, James O Brien, Alan Dempsey, Will O Donoghue, David Dempsey, Kevin Downes, Tommy Grimes , Will Henn, Peter Casey, Adrian Breen.
