U15 Hurling

Cappamore 2-8 vs 1-2 Kilpeacon

Our U15 hurlers took to the field in UL last saturday morning. A very wet morning made hurling difficult. The first match against Kilpeacon where we got off to a good start with scores from M Fitzgibbon and M Ryan. Half time score 2-6 vs 0-1. Second half proved more difficult with Kilpeacon coming back at us but we held out for a win.

Cappamore 3-4 vs 0-2 South Liberties

The second match was against South Liberties where we started a bit slower. It was tit for tat for a while with only a point each in the first 5 minutes but as the match progressed we pushed on and some nice scores from Luke Ryan, Johnny Meehan

and James O'Sullivan gave us a win and a semi final position next weekend.

U12 Hurling

Cappamore  3-5 vs 1-1 Drom/Broadford

Friday 4 October.

On Friday evening last we traveled to UL to play on the brand new Maguires Astro pitches. It was our groups county hurling final and after over coming South Liberties in the semi final we faced Dromcollogher/Broadford in the final.

We started the better of the two teams and were soon putting their defense under pressure. A good ball played in by Cillian O'Dwyer was picked up by David Meehan and he ran at the goals and finished well to the back of the net. Thomas Shanahan added a second goal a few mins later and this helped settle us, we added a few more points from Jake Slattety, Cillian O'Dwyer and Alex Heney. At Half time we led by 2-04 vs 0-01.

Drom/Broadford worked hard to get back into the game in the second half, but our defense being well marshalled by Cathal Mulcahy, and his half back line did not allow the Drom/Broadford any easy scores. They did however mange a goal fom a 21 yard free but we responded with a goal of our own when Alex Heney played a first time ball on the ground through a crowded goalmouth and in the back of the net.

It finished on a scoreline of Cappamore  3-5 vs 1-1 Drom/Broadford.

U12 Hurling

Caherline 2-05 vs 0-03 Cappamore

Sunday 6 October.

We finished the U12 season with the annual Phil Power Cup vs Caherline on Sunday evening.

Unfortunately we did not come away with the win. The final scoreline of 2-05 to 0-03 wasn't a fair reflection of how close both teams were. At half time it was 1-02 to 0-03, with our points coming from Jake Slattery. Caherline came out in the second half and finished the game stronger and once they scored the second goal our boys seemed to loose confidence while Caherline gained momentum. In saying that, it's the small things that can turn matches and if we had managed to convert one of our goal chances we might have been able to turn things around.

Thanks to Caherline for a fine sporting game and congratulations to them on their victory.

We would like to say thanks to all the U12 boys for their hard work and commitment during the year. They played some great games in both hurling and football and it was great to have such big numbers tog out for the club at this age group, and we wish them all the best as they move on to U14.

U13 football

Cappamore 2-2 vs Oola 6-6

After a poor first half Cappamore showed a marked improvement in the second period. We were unlucky with some of our scoring chances. Oola on the other hand proved more efficient in front of goal. Cillian O'Dwyer prevented Oola from adding a few more goals with some outstanding saves. Credit to both teams for a good sporting game played in very poor lighting conditions for the majority of the second half.

U13 football

Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan 1-2 vs 7-8

Cappamore

We had a well deserved win in Askeaton last Wednesday evening. Cappamore started well and won all the individual battles laying the foundations for a very good all round performance. Our defense worked well as a unit and looked to work the ball out each time. This allowed our hardworking midfield time to find the forwards in space. We had a lot of well worked scores on the night. Mal Keogh impressed with (3-1) and the movement of Matthew Walsh caused all sorts of trouble for the combined sides defense. All 19 players saw game time. Next up is a home game against Cappagh/Rathkeale on Wednesday 9th October.
