Limerick legend Richie Bennis hopes Patrickswell’s county stars can fire them to a SHC title success against holders Na Piarsaigh today.

The ‘Well will be aiming to throw a spanner in the works of Na Piarsaigh’s three-in-a-row bid at the Gaelic Grounds (3.30pm) and ‘Hurler of the Year’ Cian Lynch, Aaron Gillane and Diarmaid Byrnes will have key roles to play if they are to get their hands on a 20th county crown.

“They are three really great lads, they have dealt brilliantly with the All-Ireland success,” 1973 All-Star Bennis remarked to the Irish Daily Sun.

“They have all remained grounded, haven’t got carried away with it and they really are great ambassadors for the club to have.”

Gillane will lead the line up front and Bennis added: “He has a very good attitude and when you look at him now, you’d have to say he’s currently one of the best forwards in the country.

“For me he’s up there with the likes of TJ Reid and Patrick Horgan and players of that calibre, that’s how good he is.”
