MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell qualified for the semi-final of the Premier Championship by edging out Na Piarsaigh in a gripping match. The Caherdavin side started brightly and led by 0-2 to 0-0 after five minutes.  Cian Enright's point was immediately matched by Na Piarsaigh, but Patrick Kirby was on hand to score two frees in quick succession.  The score after fifteen minutes was 0-3 apiece. Patrickswell were rattled by conceding a goal and a point within two minutes; however Patrick Kirby's two scores slashed the deficit to 1-4 to 0-5.  The remaining five minutes of the first half were evenly balanced as both sides scored three points each (Cian Enright 0-2 and Patrick Kirby).  At the interval, Na Piarsaigh led by 1-7 to 0-8.

The second half was fiercely contested as both clubs gave their total commitment.  Na Piarsaigh notched the first point of the second half, but Patrick Kirby responded with two frees to reduce the arrears to a single point. When Na Piarsaigh claimed another point, Patrick Kirby matched them.  After forty minutes of action, the Light Blues were shading the match by 1-9 to 0-11. Both sides needed a win to reach the semi-final and Na Piarsaigh then established a two-point advantage at 1-10 to 0-11. Patrick Kirby's trio of points put the 'Well ahead for the first time at 0-14 to 1-10, but Na Piarsaigh levelled in the 50th minute.  There was tension among the players, management and spectators. Two more points from Patrick Kirby put John Murphy's side in the box seat, but our opponents took three minutes to equalise. There was three minutes on the clock and the match was tied at 0-16 to 1-13.  Every breaking ball was chased down and the players worked hard to create the decisive moment.  On the stroke of time, Patrickswell earned a free.  There was no mistake from the accurate Patrick Kirby. Na Piarsaigh laboured to make one final chance in injury time, but the 'Well held firm.

The semi-final will be against parish neighbours Ballybrown on Wednesday September 11 at 6.45pm at the Gaelic Grounds.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: The Junior A hurlers are slated to play Mungret on Sunday September 15 at 6pm in Claughaun.

CLUB LOTTO: Lotto results for the week ending Monday September 2 were as follows. The numbers drawn were 3, 26, 27 and 28. The Bonus was 30. There was no jackpot winner. The Lucky Dip Winners were Anne O'Doherty €100, Mary Aldridge €50, Imelda Cusack €20, Mary Hanley €20, Colm & Carol Hayes €20, Sinead Cronin €20 and Seamus O'Riordan €20. The next draw on Monday September 9 will be held in Ballybrown Clubhouse. The jackpot is €5,200.
