Kildimo/Pallaskenry GAA Club Notes

U-14 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL: Kildimo/Pallaskenry 5-12 Caherline 3-5. What a victory for our U-14 hurlers, who put in a superb display of hurling to defeat Caherline in the county semi-final! It means, for a second year in a row, we are in an U-14 county final! This is a team who have excelled in both codes all season, and they continue to do so, putting in another massive performance against a strong Caherline side. This side play a lovely brand of attacking hurling, and racked up another huge tally in this semi-final. Huge credit must go to all the players, but also to their management team of John Stokes, Adrian Garvey, Pat Hartigan, John McCarthy, Kevin Aherne and Eamon Neilan, with Caroline Leahy on first aid. Best of luck to all involved in the county final!

Team: Niall Rushe; Patrick Kenny, Seamus Stokes, Sean Kavanagh; Calum Coughlan, Ciarán McMahon, Ben Higgins; Conor McMahon, Ross Allen; Joe McCarthy, Tiernan Meaney, Seán Hartigan; Ethan Browne, Shane O’Sullivan, Jose Azzopardi; Joe Fitzgerald, Jonathan McLoughlin, Patrick Cahill, Rory McAuley, Cian O’Sullivan, Cian Arthur, Adam Kellett, Cian Guinane, Cian Purcell, James Ranahan

FAMILY FUN DAY: A massive thanks to everyone who made our Family Fun Day such a great success, it really was a hugely enjoyable day! There were a huge amount of club members present, kids and adults alike and was just a great occasion. We cannot thank the organisers enough, not to mention all those who helped out with activities or with stalls, prizes or in any other way. We also had a number of awards to present, including to our excellent U-14 Féile team and would also like to thank our county men: Kyle Hayes, John Chawke, Peter Nash and Tony McCarthy and to all our adult club players for presenting awards and taking time to give advice and take photos!

PREMIER INTERMEDIATE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP: Our Premier Intermediate hurlers are back in action next Saturday as they take on Dromin/Athlacca in the last round of the group stages at 3.30pm in Ballingarry. With top spot and a place in the semi-final already secured, there is a chance for the hurlers of Kildimo/Pallaskenry to become the first ever side to go through the group stage unbeaten since the formation of this tournament in 2014! In every other season to date, every team has suffered at least one defeat during this stage (including ourselves last season). We have won four and drawn two of our games to date, and it’s another chance to make a little bit of history!

MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP: Kildimo/Pallaskenry 4-8 Pallasgreen 3-13. Our minor hurlers were desperately disappointed to lose out by just two points to Pallasgreen in the last round of the group stage. It means they are just pipped to a last semi-final spot, which is obviously very disappointing. They played some lovely hurling and had a built up a bit of a lead but Pallasgreen roared back into contention in the second half and sadly, points difference did not go our way in the end. Well done to all players and management for their efforts this year!

U-16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL: The very best of luck to our U-16 footballers who face Athea in the county final on Monday September 9 in Foynes at 6.30pm. This is another chance to bring home some silverware for this talented bunch of footballers and all support is greatly appreciated!

CLUB LOTTO: The numbers for this week’s club lotto were 9, 14, 23 and 30. There was no winner of the overall draw, and the prize fund increases to €3,300 for next week’s draw in De Bucket The winners of the €25 lucky dips were: Karen O’Brien, Peter & Liz Hickey, Breda Mann and Con Linehan.

Please continue to support the club lotto, a vital source of income for the club!

CLUB LIMERICK DRAW: After a winner in the July edition of the Club Limerick draw, disappointingly we had no winners in the August draw! There is no better way to support both and show our players that you are supporting them all the way! Kildimo Pallaskenry GAA is very fortunate to have a number of players involved with county teams in both hurling and football across a number of grades. Join the CLUB Limerick Draw online or with any club committee member. Support your club and county teams!
