County Senior Football Championship:

This Sunday is make or break for the senior footballers when they face off against Galbally in round 5 of the County Championship where a win is of the utmost importance if we are to advance to the quarter final of the 2019 county senior football championship. 2019 saw the men from the foot of the Galtee Mountains regain their senior status after a number of years at intermediate level following a fine victory over Rathkeale in the 2018 intermediate decider. Galbally come into Sunday’s game on the crest of a wave having comfortably seen off the challenge of Drom/Broadford in their last championship outing and this past weekend they overcame Claughaun to capture the All County League Division two title which was a very timely boost of confidence. For our part we go into Sunday’s game with a 50% record from our four games with two wins over Na Piarsaigh and Drom/Broadford and two losses to Newcastlewest and Oola in our last game. While both sides haven’t met at county championship level during the past number of years at underage level there has been a strong rivalry between the two clubs over the past number of years with Galbally winning the most recent encounter in 2018 when they emerged with a three point victory over our u21’s in the County U21 A Football Championship semi-final in Kilmallock. This Sunday evening’s game promises to be an enthralling encounter between two sides who have their sights firmly set on getting to the county quarter final. Throw in is at 6pm in Bruff, your support is greatly appreciated by the players and management.
