Intermediate Championship Rd 3

Glin 0-16

Kildimo-Pallaskenry 2-14

Our third Championship game of the year was against the current county Junior A champions. This was an important fixture for Glin, as a victory would have put us on the cusp of qualifying for the quarter final stage. Unbelievably, this match was 16 weeks after our previous Championship encounter (a victory over Mountcollins). We started the game extremely slowly and gave Kildimo Pallaskenry a four point lead. However 15 minutes into the game we began to flow with a Pádraig Scanlon free. This was a positive spell for the Magpies and further scores from Joe Martin, Scanlon and Philip Moloney restored the game to parity. Kildimo were not afraid to go long with possession and clawed back a four point advantage just before the break, however our young men showed quality in attack and added four more points in the last five minutes of the first half, Scanlon scoring three and Ger Lyons executing a beautiful score before the half time whistle was blown. At the break the score was Glin 0 -7 Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-7.

The second half opened brightly with a curling left footed strike from Kevin Moore. Glin were beginning to show good elements in their play with James Wallace and Martin working dangerously in the forward line. The first of two set- backs occurred 10 minutes into the second half with a goal from Kildimo man Peter Nash. To our credit we responded positively through a long range effort from Scanlon and also another free converted by Scanlon also. We managed to go two points in front with less than ten minutes remaining, Scanlon (2) put us in a great position to win the game and Kildimo appeared to be out of ideas. Again a killer blow was dealt to us with five minutes remaining a high lobbing ball into the square was sent home to the delight of the Kildimo supporters. We did manage to score two more scores but it was too little too late and we ended up on the losing side of the tie on a score of 2- 14 to 16 points.

Scorers: Pádraig Scanlon (11 points), Philip Moloney, Ger Lyons, Joe Martin, Kevin Moore, James Wallace (1 point each)

Round 4

Glin 0-6

Galtee Gaels 0-13

Our slim hopes of making the quarter finals came to an end against a very good South Limerick side. Though our lads could never be faulted for effort, the great cohesion and fitness of the Anglesborough-Kilbeheny men gave them a deserved victory. Our last game is against Mungret, where a win or draw will ensure we avoid the relegation playoff.

West A minor semi final: Daithi Brudairs 1-18 Shannon gaels 1-9 A mighty performance from our men recently in Athea on a scoreline that really flattered the opposition to a man they were brilliant until the very end,we led for long periods of first half but a sucker punch goal late in first half rattled us and we never really got a foot hold in the game after.
