"Our work-rate was up, our tackling was up, our decision-making was up"

Cork boss John Meyler during his side's Munster SHC round 2 win over Limerick

John Meyler was, understandably, very proud of his Cork team’s performance in today’s Munster SHC win over Limerick.

After last week’s lack lustre display against Tipperary, the holders bounced back in impressive style at the LIT Gaelic Grounds with a seven-point success over the reigning All-Ireland champions.

“Our work-rate was up, our tackling was up, our decision-making was up,” Meyler commented in his post-match interview with RTE’s ‘The Sunday Game Live’.

“The lads deserve great credit, from Nash out to Cads, they really, really put in a performance today.

“We need to build on that now for Waterford in three weeks’ time. We were up and down in the league and I don’t want to be up and down, I want to be consistent with that same performance and better the next day against Waterford. Waterford will come to Pairc Ui Chaoimh looking for a win as well.”

The harsh lessons learned in last year’s semi-final defeat to the Treaty County stood the Rebels in good stead today.

“We were determined really not to let what happened in the All-Ireland semi-final last year when we lost a six-point lead. We just kept getting a few points and that was really it.”
