Kildimo/Pallaskenry GAA Club Notes

June 11, 2018

LIMERICK SENIOR HURLERS: Congratulations to Kyle Hayes, Barry O'Connell and the Limerick senior hurlers on another victory, as they beat Waterford in the Gaelic Grounds by thirteen points. Kyle hit two points from play and set up numerous others, as he worked his socks off from start to finish in a typically powerful performance. It means that Limerick have booked their place in the All-Ireland series with a game to spare, although have to beat Clare in Cusack Park next weekend to make a Munster final.

LIMERICK SENIOR FOOTBALLERS: Hard luck to Peter Nash, Tony McCarthy and the Limerick senior footballers who were defeated by last year's All-Ireland finalists, Mayo in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday. It was an extremely hot afternoon, and Limerick fought hard throughout and with 10 minutes to go were in touch but Mayo finished very strongly, hitting a number of late goals. Disappointment for the lads who have put in a huge effort all year, but there is no shame in going out to a stronger team.

LIMERICK MINOR HURLERS: James Mason and the Limerick minor hurlers were unlucky to lose after the Waterford minors got a couple of late scores, but are still in a great position. They need at least a point against Clare to also make a Munster final, so please get in early in support of them, and give them every bit of assistance you can.

PRIMARY GO GAMES: Congratulations also to Seamus Stokes of Kildimo National School who featured at half-time of the Limerick versus Waterford senior hurling game, representing the Limerick Go Games side and doing his family, school and club proud. Well done Seamus!

LIMERICK POC FADA: Capping off a great weekend was another victory at the Limerick Poc Fada for our very own John Chawke. Onto Munster again for John, where he will once again be a serious contender! Well done and best of luck John!

PREDICT THE SCORE FUNDRAISER: Earlier this year our team coaches under took an (AED) Defibrillator training and First Aid training course, thanks to Donal O Brien. We are delighted to have received by an anonymous club member the gift of a defibrillator which replaces an old defibrillator we had and was beyond repair.

The club will now set out to raise funds to purchase a second defibrillator, so we will have one permanently in both playing facilities. We are doing a Predict the Score competition for the Limerick vs Clare match on June 17 and offering €150 in prize money. €2 per prediction or 3 predictions for €5. Please support this very worthy cause for our club. Predictions are on sale from club members as well as local public houses/post offices/shops throughout the community. The closing date for predictions is Thursday June 14.

JUNIOR B HURLERS: Our Junior B hurlers are out in action in the County League semi-final next Thursday evening, June 14 as they take on Doon in Caherconlish at 7.30pm. After winning another City League title, the aim is to now kick on and make an impact in the County! Best of luck to all involved!

FAMILY FUN DAY: Following on from last year's hugely successful event, the Family Fun Day is back for 2018, taking place on Sunday September 2 in Pallaskenry GAA grounds. It will feature a sponsored Fun Run, Bórd na nÓg games, bouncy castles, a local artisan market, crossbar challenge and long puck competitions as well as live music, great food and much, much more! Keep an eye out for details, particularly on the Team App.

The CLUB Limerick Draw is a vital factor in the success of our County teams, it raises much needed funds for all our clubs to the tune of €400,000.

As was demonstrated again this weekend, Kildimo/Pallaskenry GAA are very fortunate to have a great number of young and senior players represent our club on the intercounty scene. The CLUB Limerick Draw will also help the development of the Gaelic Grounds and Mick Neville Park, to make it a centre of excellence with four full-size pitches including synthetic pitch, flood lighting & ball alley. Each month there will be 30 Guaranteed Cash Prizes with a top prize of €12,000 & a star car prize in December worth €25,000.
