Intermediate Footballers Record Second Win in Championship

Our Intermediate footballers made it two wins from two when they comfortably overcame Mountcollins in Tournafulla on Sunday, April 8th. Mountcollins opened with a point from McCarthy before Shanahan and Morrissey both pointed for Rathkeale on the 4th and 7th minutes. Mountcollins went on to enjoy the next 5 minutes with Brouder pointing on three occasions from placed balls. O'Connor responded for Rathkeale firing over a free of his own before Wilmot pointed to level matters on 4 points apiece. On the 15th minute came the turning point of the game when Shanahan found the net after good work from Paul White. 4 minutes later O'Connor added a second goal after a nice layoff from Shorten. Both sides traded points in the closing stages of the first half, Andrew White firing over for Rathkeale to leave the half time scoreline reading 2-05 to 0-06. Rathkeale drove on in the second half with points from O'Donnell & O'Connor (2) before Kelly coolly found the net after good team work. Shanahan and Kelly (2) tagged on three more points either side of a well taken goal from Coleman. On the final whistle, the scoreline read 4-11 to 0-07, well done to all involved in what was a good team display. The score line possible flattered Rathkeale a bit as Mountcollins had plenty of possession but failed to put points on the board, especially at the start of the second half. The result now puts Rathkeale on top of the group on 4 points with two games played, a good start but plenty of work to be done before the next championship outing against Gerald Griffins.

Impressive start for Minor Footballers

Our footballers have made a good start in the Minor Premier Championship with 2 wins from 2. In the opening encounter they overcame Monaleen on a scoreline of 0-12 to 2-00. In the second fixture they enjoyed a good win over Claughaun last Friday evening on a scoreline of 0-14 to 2-04. Similar to the Intermediates, Rathkeale currently top the group with 4 points. They will now take an extended break until July when they face Galbally after the exams.

Minor Hurlers enjoy impressive win!

Croagh Kilfinny Rathkeale sit on top of the West Minor Hurling Championship after an impressive win over Daithi Broudairs (Drom\Broadford\Feenagh\Kilmeedy).
