Na Piarsaigh Club Notes

SENIOR FOOTBALLERS

Our footballers had their second game in a week when they travelled back to Childers Road and Claughaun GAA grounds for the refixed round 1 game versus Monaleen.

The weather on this occasion much improved from the first night.

Our performance was also much better on this occsion with a much improved intensity and work rate throughout the 60plus minutes.

As a unit the team worked extremely hard and were a match for last year's county champions.

All over the field we saw big performances.

Tommy Collins in goals pulled off 2 great saves and was solid throughout.

Dean McLoughlin although hands full had a solid outing against a much bigger opponent and was backed up by Evan Gilvary and Conor McLoughlin in the corners brilliantly.

Alan Dempsey, captain Kevin Nolan and Evan O Brien were solid .

In the middle of the field Tommy Grimes and Ronan Lynch won some good possession and Gordon Brown led the charge with many surging runs down the middle.

Eoin Hogan, Evan Condon, Brian Shannon and Aaron Costelloe worked very hard and Dylan Cronin kept the scoreboard ticking with his frees.

We were level at the break 5 points apiece and in the second half we started poorly and the concession of 2 soft goals looked to be a killer.

We did however show huge determination and no little effort to claw our way back into the game and with time almost up we received a free to the the game which Aaron Costelloe duly dispatched from 40 plus yards to give the lads a much deserved draw.

A point only perhaps but a very good one in the bigger scheme of things and one which gives us renewed hope going forward.

We now have a 12 week break before our next outing versus St Senans.

CAMOGIE

The club held a very successful under 12 blitz with Mungret, Patrickswell and Monaleen our guests.

A good days hurling was had by all.

Big thanks to all who made it a success

UNDER 21 HURLERS

Our under 21 Hurlers were back in action on Sunday in the replay of the Co.semi final v Doon.

This time we travelled to Martinstown and Stakes Wallace GAA Club.

We got off to the worse possible start and found ourselves trailing 2-3 to no score inside 10 minutes.

We slowly found our way and had some terrific points from Will Henn to eat into their lead.

By the break we had 6 points on the board but trailed by 2-8 to 0-6

With the wind at our backs in the second half we began to chip into the lead but as we did we conceded 2 more goals to leave an unassailable lead of 4-11 to 0-11.

The introduction of Emmet McEvoy made a big difference and he was on hand to rifle past the Doon net mindermid way through the half.

We scored further points from Conor Boylan, Will Henn and Tommy Grimes but unfortunately couldn't raise any further green flags.

Final Score Doon 4-13 Na Piarsaigh 1-16.

NEW BAR

Our new bar facility finally opened its doors on Friday evening.

The feedback so far has been positive  and we look forward to renewed interest in the months ahead.

We ask for patience as it is still a work in progress and the builders finish with the toilets and other projects.

Well done so far to all involved on what will be a huge addition to our club.
