County U21 Quarter Final
Fr. Caseys 1-11 Adare 2-12
Fr. Caseys Under 21 Footballers bowed out of the county championship last Saturday night at the quarter final stage against a strong Adare side in a cold Mick Neville Park. Fr. Caseys entered the game as underdogs against an Adare side fresh from tasting county senior success last October. After an impressive showing against Mungret in their last group game, hopes were high however that Fr. Caseys could upset the odds. Goals win games and it was Adare who unfortunately managed to raise two green flags in the opening half to take a commanding 2-04 to 0-06 lead into the break. Despite battling well, Fr. Caseys had an uphill task against them in the second period and need a big response. An early second half goal which reduced the margin to a single point looked to have swung the game in Fr. Caseys favour but Adare kept their nerve and outscored Fr. Caseys by 7 point to 4 for the remainder of the game to eventually run out winners with 4 points to spare. It has been a long year for some of these players who did us proud at senior and junior level. For the dedication they have given to the blue and white jersey this year we are extremely grateful. It was a pity this team didn't emulate what they had done at minor in 2014 and capture the county title but I have little doubt they will be back for more glory in the coming years. Many thanks to Thomas Cahill, Seamus Lenihan, Timmy Gleeson and Keith Harnett for all their efforts managing this team.
