Moran, Martin

August 02, 2013
All too soon again our parish was shook to the core when the news spread about the tragic accident that took Martin Moran away from us in a most untimely fashion. The club extends its sincere sympathy to his heartbroken wife Sandra, daughter Amy, his parents Liam and Carmel, to his brothers Micheal, Joe, Gerry and sister Antoinette together with the extended Moran and Tivnan families and a wide circle of friends and relatives. As well as being an accomplished athlete, Martin starred for many years at all underage levels for Kiltubrid. He was an instrumental member of the 1988 U16 team who won league and championship double. Martin was known on the field for his courage, speed and agility and was renowned for a having a left foot that Padraig Joyce would be proud of. Never a player to shy away when the game wasn't going our way, you could always rely on Martin with that fabulous left foot to get stuck in and engineer a score or two. The huge turnout of people at Martins home, funeral mass and guard of honour is an indication of the high esteem and huge respect that people have for Martin. We hope that the fantastic community spirit and support that has been shown in the past week will help the family and neighbours and that it will in so me way help them through this very difficult and sad time. As a mark of respect a minutes silence was held before the start of the Kiltubrid v Carrigallen championship game on Sunday. Ar dheis de go raibh an ainm.
