Leitrim All-Star Seamus Quinn believes he was ‘lucky’ to be a part of the county’s Connacht SFC success in 1994.

This month, the county are celebrating the 25th anniversary of that success over Mayo in the provincial decider.

And Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, Quinn admitted that there were just as good of footballers in the county down through the years, but unfortunately, they never won anything.

“You feel sorry for those lads who carried Leitrim for years,” said Quinn. “I was very, very lucky. I keep telling people, I was so young in ’94. I thought there was going to be six or seven of these, it is just funny the way it happens,” said Quinn.

“At that young age, I could have done different things, I could have gone off travelling but I was mad to play football and once I got into the set up, I couldn’t wait to be involved.
