Mohill club notes

County Game

Best of luck to the Leitrim lads, as they take on Clare in Carrick on Saturday. Shane, Domhnaill and Oisín will be there as usual doing their utmost to take the laurels. We also wish the best of luck to the Leitrim hurlers in Croke Park on the same day.

Philly McGuinness U20 Cup

The Club hosted the final of the above League on Saturday last between Sligo and Tyrone. Philly’s brothers, John and Michael, presented the cup to the victorious Tyrone captain. Also present were the officers of Connacht Council and Mohill club are grateful to them for arranging the final for Pairc Philib. A big thank you to all who helped make the day a success and honour the memory of our beloved Philly.

Recent Bereavement

We extend deepest sympathy to the family of Josephine Stenson, Eslin who died last week. Josephine’s sons and grandchildren have all togged out at some stage for Mohill and the whole Stenson family are great supporters of any fundraising the club hold. A perfect lady in every way may she rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.

Fr John Kilcrann

We extend deepest sympathy to the Kilcrann family Eslin on the sudden and untimely death of Fr John. Ar dheis Dé raibh sé

Alannah McGuinness

Congratulations to Alannah McGuinness who was crowned U18 Connacht Schools 100m champion on Saturday last in Sligo. A bright future ahead for this young lady.

Juniors

The D4 team had a good win over Gortletteragh on Sunday last. The final score was 2-16 to 0-17. Our second string will play Eslin on Sunday morning next in Eslin at 12noon

Cross County League

U12s played Wolfe Tone’s Edgeworthstown on Thursday. The scoring system is geared to prevent runaway wins and encourage scoring from far out. A goal is only a point and a point from far out is two points. Despite playing very well our boys were beaten 19 to 13. They play MacDiarmada Gaels next Thursday at 7.30 pm.

Mary Kennedy

It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since one of our greatest ladies Mary Kennedy died. Saturday next is her first anniversary Mass in St Patrick’s Church at 8pm.
