Leitrim are on the lookout for a second goalkeeper after former number one Diarmuid McKiernan left the panel.

McKiernan had started the first five NFL games this year, but eventually lost his place to Cathal McCrann in recent months.

Following last weekend’s win over Wicklow in the SFC qualifiers at Pairc Sean MacDairmada, McKiernan informed Leitrim manager Terry Hyland of his decision.

The Allen Gaels clubman becomes the eighth player to leave the squad since the NFL final defeat to Derry last March as he joins Sean Flanagan, James Rooney, Darragh Rooney, Conor Cullen, Eoin Ward, Gary Reynolds and Emlyn Mulligan in the exodus.
