Mindset must be right for Rossies

Roscommon coach Liam McHale is intransigent that the players will not be complacent for their Connacht SFC semi final against Leitrim on Saturday.

The sides meet at Carrick-on-Shannon this weekend and the Rossies are raging hot favourites to advance to the final where they will meet either Galway or Sligo.

McHale revealed to the Roscommon Herald that even though being complacent has not been discussed in the camp, he stressed that everyone was focused on the task in hand.

"We understand why we're favourites and we're going to Carrick expecting to win. But we have to be on the ball and make sure we're right. We're approaching this match as if we're playing Mayo or Galway," said McHale.

"In games like this you need to be very solid defensively and hopefully jump on them early. The players have been warned. We haven't used the word complacent in training but the players know that if they're not up to scratch, we'll be making changes. As a management, we'll be ruthless about that.

"We have greater strength in-depth. I feel the same about the player on the bench as the player that's starting. Everyone knows what they're supposed to do, so the players would be very foolish not to pay heed to what we're saying to them."
