Letting a team 'go for it' is a refreshing statement in the GAA these days, but those are the sentiments of Leitrim manager Brendan Guckian ahead of their clash against Carlow at the weekend.
Guckian let his charges off the leash so to speak in the last few minutes of their defeat to Laois last Sunday and the Connacht side scored an impressive 3-04 during the period.
That phase brought them right back into the match and unsettled Laois who up to then had been cruising to victory, but they ultimately held on for a six-point win.
And Guckian told the Leitrim Observer that they need to throw caution to the wind against Carlow at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday evening.
"We obviously have to go at Carlow, again maybe throw off the shackles and go at them and see what happens," stated the Leitrim manager.
"The last two games have obviously been difficult and we played the best two teams in the Division. We improved from the Antrim game and obviously we'd be hoping that we improve again for next Saturday."
