The late Joe Ramsbottom
The death occurred on Tuesday, July 4th, 2006, of Mr. Joe Ramsbottom, Ratheniska following a short illness. Joe was a stalwart of the local Ratheniska community, active in many different areas.
Joe's interest and involvements swept across the board of local community life and was reflected in the numerous tributes which flowed in, ranging from the local GAA club where he won numerous county medals and was an active committee member at the time of his death; to the church choir; the Dysart Enos graveyard restoration committee to the tidy towns committee; to the Portlaoise boxing club where Joe won Leinster championship medals and many many more.
Joe's remains were removed from his residence on Wednesday evening to the Church of the Holy Cross in Ratheniska. A guard of honour was provided on both days by members of the Park/Ratheniska GAA club and the Timahoe GAA club for whom Joe won a senior football championship medal. His remains were interred in the local cemetery following Requiem Mass on Thursday.
He is survived by his wife Kate, sons Max and Alexander, brothers Har, John, Paddy, James and sisters Mairead and Ena, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended
