The Late Paddy Hassett Sympathy is extended to the Hassett family, Lisduff, Errill on the death of Paddy Hassett, September 26. Formerly from Gurtagarry, Toomevara the late Mr Hassett was a member of the farming community and had a deep and long involvement with many organisations in the area. An avid GAA supporter he was the father of the former County Board Chairman Tom Hassett. His sons PJ and Seamus also played hurling at County level for Laois. He was a renowned set dancer and in Errill he was responsible for starting the talent competitions and Scor. A high point came when the Errill Senior Set dancers, under his training, won the All-lreland Final in the National Stadium Dublin in 1986. He also trained the Errill ICA set dancers who won many competitions with him. Removal took place from his residence at Lisduff to Errill Church on Friday evening. Guards of honour were provided by Errill GAA and Errill ICA. His coffin was draped with the Errill GAA colours. Burial took place in Templetuohy Cemetery following Requiem Mass on Saturday morning. The late Mr Hassett is survived by his wife Kathleen, sister Peggy, daughters Marian and Breda, sons Michael, Thomas, Denis, PJ and Seamus, daughters-in-law, sons-in law, grandchildren, neighbours, relatives and friends.
