Former GAA President Nickey Brennan is to chair a Strategic Review Committee in Laois.

Brennan is part of the committee that will be tasked with plotting the future for Laois GAA and looking at ways of improving all aspects of Gaelic games in the county.

While the county's hurlers can count themselves unfortunate not to have a better season in 2017, after they were decimated by injuries throughout the year, the county's footballers had a disastrous league and championship campaign.

There are also other areas that need addressing and the four-man committee have until Mid-November to compile a report and put forward either a three or five-year plan to the county board.

Laois have implemented a strategic plan in the past and they have opted to go down the same route again.
