Welcome to what was the biggest day of the year on the hurling calendar.

Two giants of the small ball code went head to head at Croke Park this afternoon as Kilkenny take on Tipperary.

The defending champions survived a stern test against Waterford in the semi-final replay, while Tipp saw off the challenge of Galway.

The scene was set for what could well be an amazing contest as Kilkenny bid to win their 37th title, while Tipp are aiming for their 27th.
